Oklahoma City Couldn’t Come Any Sooner!<\/h3>\n

Wow! What a year it has been already. We opened new stores in\u00a0 Lenexa, Kansas and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, started offering new products in our stores, and are on the tail-end of the pandemic. 2021 is already a great year. For those of you that have been our patrons since the beginning, thank you for sticking by us. Your support allows us to keep on baking!\u00a0 All of this to say, we are excited to announce that we are expanding The Big Biscuit to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma!<\/span><\/p>\n

Here at the corporate headquarters, we take our franchising very seriously. Slow and steady wins the race is what we\u2019ve always thought. We are always purposeful when considering new markets, real estate, and especially franchisees; we don\u2019t mess around with who\u2019s handling our biscuits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since we\u2019re going to new horizons, we want to share some interesting information about Oklahoma City and what makes it so special. Here are 5 awesome facts about Oklahoma City!<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Oklahoma City was settled in one whole day. In April of 1889, the federal government set up a series of \u201cland runs,\u201d where homesteaders could go to newly acquired land and stake their claim, in return promising to inhabit the land for a set time and farming it. By the end of the day on April 22nd, OKC had nearly 10,000 residents.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. People who came early and snuck in for some of this new land were called \u201cSooners\u201d. And before this, people who favored settling in the new land were called Boomers!<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Oklahoma City is the state\u2019s largest city with more than 1.3 million residents in the OKC metro. In terms of land area, OKC is the 3rd largest in the nation. All of Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, D.C., Pittsburgh, Manhattan and San Francisco can fit in it\u2019s land area. Only Jacksonville, Florida and Anchorage, Alaska are bigger than it.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Fittingly enough, the Oklahoma state capitol building, located in Oklahoma City, is the only capital that sits on an active oil well. There is literally an oil rig in front of the building.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. In the early 1900\u2019s, automobiles were becoming more and more a part of American lives and cities were struggling with parking. So resident Carl C. Magee installed the first ever parking meter in Oklahoma City and charged 5 cents an hour for parking.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
